Purpose

We are a charitable trust grounded in Māori, Pasifika, and Asian values, where family/whānau are central to healing and wellbeing. Our work challenges the limitations of Western medical models that prioritise individual privacy over collective care—often leaving families in the dark during their loved one’s most vulnerable moments.

Our Kaupapa (Guiding Principles)

The principles that shape how we support whānau, honour lived experience, and ensure culturally safe, transparent, and inclusive wellbeing for all.

Whānau as Central Care

We recognise whānau as the heart of wellbeing. Support is not isolated to one person but extends to everyone connected, ensuring healing, safety, and strength are shared collectively.

Cultural Safety First

We honour diverse cultural beliefs, healing traditions, and community practices. Our approach ensures every person feels respected, understood, and supported in ways that uphold their identity and wellbeing.

Value Lived Experience

We centre the voices of people with lived experience, especially from Māori, Pasifika, and Asian communities. Their insights guide our decisions, challenge assumptions, and ensure services truly meet community needs.

This website will:

01

Share

Lived experiences that expose how current systems fail whānau-centred care

02

Provide

Practical, culturally informed resources to help families support their loved ones

03

Advocate for

Systemic change that respects collective wellbeing, not just individual rights

04

Build a

Community platform where Māori, Pasifika, and Asian voices lead the conversation on mental health

Why This Work Matters

In Western healthcare, privacy laws often prevent families from knowing critical information—like Discharge Summary, Safety Plan (or Wellness Plan / WRAP), Medication Plan (or Treatment Plan), Optional but very helpful documents (if available: Care Plan, Risk Assessment Summary, Family Information Sheet). But in our cultures, wellbeing is shared. When systems exclude whānau, they increase risk, deepen distress, and undermine recovery.

We're here to...

Fill that gap — with truth, tools, and advocacy—until the system truly sees and supports the whole family.
